GOP lawmaker to file censure resolution against Crockett over Abbott comments!!

Republican Rep. Randy Weber is planning to introduce a resolution to censure Rep. Jasmine Crockett over comments she made about Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, according to a draft shared with CNN.

Weber is pushing for this action after Crockett referred to Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels” and a “hot a** mess”  during a Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles over the weekend.

In response, Crockett clarified on X that her comments were not about Abbott’s use of a wheelchair.

“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” she posted.

She added,

“The next line I said was that he was a ‘Hot A** Mess,’ referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition.”

Gov. Greg Abbott was partially paralyzed at age 26 after a tree fell on him while he was jogging.

CNN has reached out to Abbott and House Speaker Mike Johnson for comments.

The big question now is whether Weber will push House GOP leadership to consider the resolution quickly by making it privileged. He is expected to introduce it on Wednesday and will decide later whether to push for an urgent vote, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Censuring a member of Congress, once a rare punishment, has become more common in recent years. This would be the second censure attempt this month against a Democrat. Earlier, House Republicans successfully censured Rep. Al Green after he disrupted former President Donald Trump’s address to Congress. Ten Democrats joined Republicans in voting to reprimand Green.
